Steps to Fix a Blue Screen Error

A blue screen error message never happens at a good time. But if your screen flashes the blue screen of death, or BSoD, there are steps you can take to repair your computer and get back on track.

The blue screen, or stop error, is a message that indicates that something is bad enough with your computer that Windows must be stopped to prevent damage to your PC.

So once you get this stop error, follow these steps to get back on track:

Step One: Put Your PC in Safe Mode with a Blue Screen

When you receive a blue screen error, you need to restart your PC in safe mode. Even if your PC restarts itself in normal mode, you need to get to safe mode for the best results.

Safe mode limits your PC to just the basic files and drivers it needs to function. This allows you to troubleshoot and run diagnostics on your PC.

If your PC runs fine in Safe Mode, then you can rule out these basic drivers and folders as the root cause of your BSoD.

Step Two: Run a Registry Repair Program for a Blue Screen

The next step is to run a registry repair program on your PC. A missing or corrupt DLL file may be the cause of your blue screen error.

To start the process, simply download a registry repair program from a trusted source online and it should start repairing your drivers and devices automatically.

If a corrupt or missing DLL file is the cause of your blue screen, you should have no further trouble from your PC.

Step Three: Try Defragmenting Your PC for a Blue Screen
Defragmenting your PC can also help keep the blue screen from reappearing. It can also fix a PC that is running slowly . This process can take a few hours, so be sure to do it when you won't need to use your PC for a while.
